The search for a new Town Clerk began this fall with the resignation of Jonathan Broadway, who resigned the post September 1. Armed with 15 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, Heather Kuellenberg assumed the post October 9. Born and raised in Portland, Tennessee, Heather lived in Colorado Springs for nine years prior to moving to Lake City. She and husband Mike discovered Lake City vacationing here, riding the Alpine Loop in the summers. In Colorado Springs, she worked for an HVAC and plumbing company, Parkey’s Refrigeration Co., Inc., as the office and accounting manager. Prior to that, in Tennessee, she worked for Guardian Security Systems, Inc., as accounting manager, bookkeeper and personal assistant. Heather became a certified bookkeeper through Penn Foster Academy; she is also QuickBooks certified, a member of the National Bookkeepers Association and the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers. Additionally, she is a State of Colorado Notary, a service she offers to anyone at no charge. “My initial impression of Lake City is that it feels like home,” she says. “Everyone has been so welcoming to my family and we are grateful to be here. I love to hike, fish, ride OHVs, explore the backcountry, cook and be the best wife, momma and Lolli (grandmother) I can possibly be.” Heather is stepmother to two sons, Jordan, 25, and Andrew, 23, and Lolli to granddaughters Paisley, Kambri and Paige. “I feel like all of my coworkers are good, down to earth people who I look forward to getting to know better. It’s been a pleasure meeting each and every one of them,” she says, “I look forward to life in Lake City.”
